Jannie's Garden Diary 2014.
Jannie's Garden Diary 2014.Previous Diaries 2010 2011 2012 2013 I didn't think I would make a diary this year as due to my RA and caravan trips I haven't spent as much time out in the garden. But this morning I was having a look around and thought ..I'm really not that far behind where I should be ..perhaps a couple of weeks with the tomatoes but mainly, thanks to the fruit and herbs, the garden isn't looking too bad. So better late than never, especially for Perchy, here's some pics to show where I'm at. Front Garden. Cherries, Plums, Blackcurrents have set and apple trees just coming into full blossom Blueberries Gooseberries Thornless Blackberries Rasberries The greenhouse Courgettes Cucumbers and Tomatoes More Tomatoes Chillies and more cucumbers Back garden Peas Broad Beans .. trying them in the raised planter against the wall this year, quite late sowing them. Lettuce, spring onions and beetroot Herbs .. Rosemary, Parsley, Sage, Thyme and chives Apple, Morello cherry and pear trees in blossom. Carrots First early Potatoes, Cress and some of the spare strawberries plants that I couldn't give away. and Radish I also got around to sowing the runner beans this morning so hopefully we'll get well fed again this year. Re: Jannie's Garden Diary 2014.Aww Jannie what a shame you are so far behind, not to worry. am sure it will start to look really good once you have been out there for a while and tidied up etc
Re: Jannie's Garden Diary 2014.I was sat here this morning looking out of the patio doors at the pouring rain and I thought to myself .. next break in the rain and I'll amuse Perchy with some pics .... works everytime.
How's your garden now the trees have gone, Perchy? Re: Jannie's Garden Diary 2014.Actually Jannie it is "getting there", now the soil is better etc, have been putting one or two bits in, we also have a little grass too, the hens are now banned, the grass actually needs cutting but the rain has put paid to that, I will take some pics as soon as it is cut, have noticed on the old little veggie bit that I have some herbs growing and some lettuce, must have been in the compost, will attempt to pot them up, the redcurrant bush in the girls run has really grown and looks like there will be lots of fruit, it doesn't have alot of leaf towards the bottom!! wonder why? your garden is beautiful, it always is
Re: Jannie's Garden Diary 2014.Thanks Perchy ..looking forward to seeing some pics from you.
Re: Jannie's Garden Diary 2014.I used up all my nervous energy in the garden yesterday. Well the back garden anyway. Need to sort the front today.
In the greenhouse .. I potted all the indoor plants into their final pots .. not using growbags this year as I had lots of my own compost to use .. took the bottom stageing out and cleaned all the glass. Doesn't sound like much when I say it like that but getting the compost from the pile to the pots took forever. The 4 tomato plants not potted on are the hanging basket toms which I'm hardening off before I plant on as I can't lift the baskets in and out the greenhouse everyday. Chillies and peppers .. something has been eating them but, even going out with a torch at night, I can't find out what it is. Spare tomato plants ..I'll harden them off and plant them in the cottage garden. The first sowing of courgettes are just about to open their first flowers. Peas Broad Beans The salad crops Strawberries with a little bumble bee collecting pollen. I also mowed the lawn and tidied up the boarders ..... so off now to spend the day in the front garden.
