OMG this is so cool,
I didnt even know......... have signed up for membership and have already targeted my first cache (that i will get on my way home from work) found about 20 within 10 min's of my area by car one being about 600 yards away in the woods opposit my house(will do that one on my day off duiring sunlight hours) my family think im already sad for talking on a chicken forum so now im afaid they will think im completly bonkers!! Some friends are like a slinky, boring till you push them down the stairs.
http://mongehamestate.blogspot.com/ We had 5 failled finds on Sunday - largely due to the good weather and the number of people out walking. We just couldn't have a good hunt without looking really odd. There are caches in the middle of nowhere where sane poeple don't wander - those are easier to rummage around.
It is always harder without a GPS - you sort of get used to what likely hiding places look like, though. If you look at people's logs, you will see that they have diversion props - a lost ball for example. We are usually out as a family, so we have one or two hunting, the rest of us look like 'walkers taking a break'. I find keeping it secret it a lot of the fun, but I am rather silly that way " -zere isn't much to do 'ere, unless you like cooking and chickens!"
i am now an official geo cache'er
i found it on my way home and my names is in the log book, and registered it as a find on the site. have been surfing to find out about my tom tom one, and you can select for it to look for a Way point lat/long. have lined up another to find on way home tonight (easy driveby) as i havent got my satnav nor my walking shoes. there is one about 5 miles from me with 3 TB's might venture there at the weekend to help one on its way. i have had 3 finds in 3 days!!
all drive by on way home from work..... and looking at another tonight. as i havent got my tom tom working i have found the best way is google earth. You can cut and past the cache lat/long directly into google earth and zoom right in. this is the method i have used for 2 of my finds and from google earth was within 1-2 meters of its location and the other was slap bang on it. also gives you an idea of the area layout for quick access and exit. my geo cach user name is.................................daveindeal Some friends are like a slinky, boring till you push them down the stairs.
http://mongehamestate.blogspot.com/ That's a great idea. I have been totally un-frugal and bought a new phone which is compatible with a navigator download. Unfortunately, they system won't let me on yet I am still awaiting replies from the customer service depts.
Check out our pathetiv progress we are FSseekers " -zere isn't much to do 'ere, unless you like cooking and chickens!"
Go for it, I am totally hooked as I have mentioned before. So much so that I have just bought a canoe in order to go and find some that can only be reached by boat on one of our local canals.
I recommend the Garmin Etrex Venture HC as a good device, it hasn't let us down once. New to chicken keeping so please be patient with me!
Re: I go Geocaching.up to 7 finds now.
have all been easy drive bys but got my tom tom working that can have lat long up to .000 deg so should be quite accurate. also got a few places targated for my own caches. one being a complex multi cache consiting of a pyramid system, that each cache gives you 2 co-ordanate so by the 3rd level you have 8 possable co-ordinates only one of them having the cache with the log & goodies and of course it will all depand on you your choices right from the start or you will be getting further from the treasure at every cache you chose Some friends are like a slinky, boring till you push them down the stairs.

Re: I go Geocaching.
what did you get, where from, and how much?? im using tom tom at the moment and its a little vauge you can input to .3 dec but as soon as you get withing 5 yards it says your at your destination so you got aproximatly a 5 - 10yard area to search (not good with muggles about) Some friends are like a slinky, boring till you push them down the stairs.
http://mongehamestate.blogspot.com/ Re: I go Geocaching.Look on Ebay. Mine is a Garmin Etrex Venture HC. You can get them from there for about £100
