MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'S (PICS ONLY PLEASE)
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SWe started off with a run and coop from eBay without a nesting box, and the OH kindly knocked one together for me from a few bits of old bed and spare cladding
The run is a bit small, but we're both off work this week and so have been letting them out to 'enjoy' (read: ruin) the garden. On Saturday, we'll be getting a pile of chicken wire that's been stripped off my parents thatch and we'll be extending their run. They don't seem to be too unhappy at the moment though If you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SSome pictures of my Ark now it is up and running
The nest boxes are at each end with nice little doors to get access to the eggs Half The World Away!
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SThis one came as a flat pack ... I couldn't build it from scratch, my DIY skills are very limited. BUT there were no pre-drilled holes so I had to do it myself - good job I have a drill. But my very inexpensive drill just isn't up to the job of drilling through the handles, so I'm stuck until someone can come and give me a hand. The instructions were almost non-existent, the fixings and fittings didn't match the enclosed list ... and the roof board is split along almost half it's length - so I'm having to wait for a replacement before I can finish it. So I'm not impressed overall ... but for the money it's a good size and I'm looking forward to using it. I'm going to try and adapt the lift-out hatch at the end of the run and make it into a ramp for access to an extended run. But I've run out of steam for now! Not getting the chickens until after our summer holiday so there's no rush! Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SThe constructed enclosure just waiting for wire Half chicken wired. My daughter's in there checking for egg with Chloe keeping an eye on her It's so nice to reclaim back our garden ! mum to 2 kids, 2 fish, 1 cat and 5 hens- Doris, Chloe, Iris, Tinks & Freds.

Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SThis is our home made chicken house and coop.
The girls and boy are all 14 weeks old now and we love them loads! The run and house Play area George The girls
Cairney CoopHere's an update on the photo's. We decided to extend the run after I found another freebie supplier of the wonderful Heras fencing. This allows the rabbit to have one side and the Chooks the other. They will swap every 2 to 3 weeks so this allows the grass to come back and best of all, less grass for me to cut - yippee.

Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SHere's mine. I basically made it up as I went along, measuring against the width of the mesh (1"x 1/2"). I painted it green to blend it in a bit (the neighbours were a bit surprised to see it pop up!). The mesh is dug down underground, even under the door, and the coated wire roof secure too.
I might put a roof on for the winter. They love the umbrella! it was going in the skip, but gives them welcome shade and shelter from the rain. Also get's lot of comment from visitors :'clicklins' holiday camp. I should build them a bar too, I guess
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SOur new run. Built as a lean to against the side of the house.
