Guess the VisitorGuess the Visitorok who knows what this visitor is (you can only play if you aren't from australia or new zealand )
Sorry for the appallingly bad photo - nature's visitors in Aus are almost all nocturnal ....... and they disappear just AFTER you realise that you have a bad reflection happening off the window and turn off the inside light..... Another good guess, but no !
Oooh i'm trickier than i thought Can you tell it's up on the balcony railing from my blurry photo? (I should be taking pics of the Loch Ness Monster with these skills)

Mo gets the prize!
woops i don't have a prize Yes it's a possum! They have a related animal in America which I think is an 'opossum' = not sure why the 'o' though. I think it is the only marsupial outside the Australia/new guinea region? ? I was pretty excited to see two of them on our back deck the other night. You don't get them in the part of Perth where I lived (but you do in the surrounding rural areas). Strangely you do get them right in the city in some parts of inner Melbourne where there's big old trees surviving. Generally they are more associated with non-city areas though. Heee hee it's bigger than it probably looks in the pic - I'd be very afraid if those ones could glide they are bigger than my cats and broad across the ummmm rear end - I'd hate to be hit by a low flying possum! This is a brushtail possum, but there are small marsuspials that can glide. phew!

How cute is that.
I am relegated to squirrels, mice and the odd rat. Jodi [I think ] has parrots, do you get them at all. Mind you my vet has a flock of ring necked parrots that come to his garden every day and he lives near Harrow. Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning oh yes parrots, we're fighting those off with a stick here in Aus
In Perth our 'twenty eight' parrots were one of the most common birds you'd come across in the suburbs. They are also known as ring neck parrots. That's interesting about the ones that visit your vet - I take it they are introduced ?? Over here in Tassie the rosellas are I'd say the second most common bird in my backyard. I was very impressed by them, but the locals probably think they're boring Here's a pic of some of them about to attack the neighbour's cat (only joking ............ I think!!!!) Bit closer: Rosella's are the most beautiful birds.
As are Gahlahs [s] which cost an arm and a leg if you bought one over here. Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Lovely Tassie Dev. - it's like having your own personal colourful wildlife park!!
As I feed mixed poultry corn to my birds, I get many a wood pigeon attempting to break my bird table when landing on it - apart from that other peoples cats and that's about it!! Would be nice to get some colour in the garden. Speaking of colour ........I was revising in my conservatory and in the corner of my eye noticed what I thought was a burning fire in the garden -my stomach churned, and when I looked it was one of my girls flapping her wings - haha!!! Eyes playing tricks eh!! Small steps lead to big changes
