If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning
I think bees are cute !
Your doing so well citrine, as said before my dad seems to know all about it and would love to do it, after a conversation the other day he said its likely never to happen, but i have bought him a book on it anyway!! Love reading all your updates "Happiness is making the most of what you have."
Citrine -
Wow, on and off for over a year I've been fancying bee-keeping. Unfortunately all things considered (mainly hive location) I've decided it isn't for me. Our local pub sells jars of local honey (well, it's a good enough reason to have to visit the pub ). It's absolutely gorgeous - I love honey on crumpets Well done, you!!! http://www.freshstartforhens.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Bee Diary 1014th June
Bee Diary 10 Been to the Beginners Hands on Day. Well, what a fabulous day we had! (Apart from me falling down a rabbit hole, well, I suppose I could call myself Alice!!!) Got lots of top tips, such as using a cloth when you open up a hive, to keep them settled, and less buzzy. There are so many hives here, each of the three groups have plenty to play with!! Also, had a look at the groups Long Hive - think you have to be taller than me to be able to deal with it comfortably, but what a great experience! Found the queen, could see her egg laying, and the nectar/honey. Got chatting to a very experienced Beekeeper, he has been an Apiarist for about 60 years! He showed us his furniture polish, facial cream and propolis which he produces from his Apiary. This is piquing my curiosity!! Met some lovely people, yet again. Met a former Bee Inspector - nice chap. He took one of the groups, and was extremely knowledgable. I think from this Day, I’ve got more confidence, and didn’t realise how much I’ve actually learnt. Knowledge may be gained from the internet, books and other media, but a good Mentor, and friendly experienced beekeepers just cant be beaten. My Websites; http://www.tranquillitytherapies.co.uk
It sounds a lovely informative day.
It is so nice to go somewhere full of anticipation and have those hopes fulfilled. Well done you. I am sure you one day will be the one giving the talks, going by your enthusiasm. Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning My Dad has been talking to a man who is part of the bee keepers asosicitation (i know that is spelt wrong) he is going to a meeting soon!
He is just worried about his neighbours, but apparantly you can sort of block their way so they fly up and out of the garden rather than across the neighbours! He is still doubtfull but wants to get as much info and advice as he needs! Maybe you will meet him on one of those meetings? He is also going to find out if his friend can keep them on his allotment if his neighbours oppose the idea! He seems to know everything he needs set up cost etc, was telling me all about bees and why they swarm (which i never knew why before) i really hope he goes for it. I have mentioned you loads to him!! And if its ok im going to print off your diary if you dont mind so he can also see it from a first timers point of view. Where are the meetings you attend? "Happiness is making the most of what you have."
No, they didnt fly out of the windows, thats exactly why the windows should be kept shut!
He had his Veil on so he was quite safe. Lou, does you Dad have a shed? Theres a way of keeping them in a shed, they need a pipe through the wall for exit/entrrance. Yes, there is a way to force the bees up, via a fence/tree/bush - but it sounds like your Dad knows, so I wont teach thingys to suck eggs!! (whats the saying?)
