Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SThis is a pic of our newly extended coop and run awaiting arrival of our new girls in February.
Milli 15 ex batty girls, 2 rescue jack russels and one very naughty Shih Tzu puppy who rules the household!!!
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SAs I have only got a small garden I have gone for a coop that will fit into the corner giving the ladies shelter from the wind and the sun. I have two Isa Warrens called Maggie and Rosie who do seem to like their accommodation (well apart from a lot of clucking that is!
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SSize DOES matter!
This is what I started with, way too small for 6 ex-battys.... Thankfully my Dad stepped in and the run grew! I think they like it... And I have a perfect view! Women should be obscene and not heard........ Groucho Marx
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'Sthe deed is done, theyre penned , they now have an area approx 20 ft by 16 ft, inside the pen is a fully secure run and coop with nest box which is 12 ft by 6 ft, they will be in there until i finish work, then they can go into the big run when im out there, also there is an extra little run behind the shed approx 12 x 3ft, mind you little Lacey, the bantam, just stepped through the trellis, ive blocked it off now, but it was funny,
theyre are 5 chooks under this old coop dustbathing, i reckon theyre planning an escape this is the area to the side of the original coop and run, if you look to the rear left the little door leads to the extra run around and behind the shed, all i need now is some russian vine and a few hanging baskets, oh and about 60 metres of new turf
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SCoop's built, fence is up, now all I need is chickens!
DSCN2571 by woolysnippet, on Flickr DSCN2573 by woolysnippet, on Flickr new coop by woolysnippet, on Flickr The run turned out a bit bigger than I thought it was going to be, so I've lost the use of my washing line (I'll get another one!), but I thought I'd leave that one up in the hope that the lines might scare off the buzzards. Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SThe run and house made by my dad , there was grass in front and in the run but it was soon destroyed because the run is rarely used they free range during the day and washing line has been rehomed to different part of the garden.Plus a couple pics of my three bluebells . Me and 3 children,1 dh, 1 leghorn,3 bluebells,3 ex batts ,1 not sure poss ex batt,1 lab,1 collie,1 sheepdog,2 cats,1 bearded dragon. And George the wood pigeon who visits everyday from a baby and has a bowl of mash along with the ladies.
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SJust finished building this, just got to build a run and get some nest trays.

Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SLooks lovely
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'SI'm very new to this but thought I'd share some pictures of my chicken house. Here goes...
As you can see, I reduced our shed by a third, added a pop hole, replaced the glass windows with a fine mesh and built a fixed run to the front. It's been a while and the whole area is a lot greener now! "I'm not so weird to me..."
Second Coop in the Red BarnApril 19, 2011 marks the completion of our second coop in our red barn. On Friday, our first Australorp will arrive, a rooster from Hidden Meadow Farm. We're pleased with this coop since we learned a lot from our first efforts. The coop is brighter than the first one and has a covered run and ample platorm space for roosting and delivery of water and feed. David has outcone himself, and when a hen arrives with chicks in early May we will have our first Australorp flock, complete with a layer coop and room to manage birds easily.
I'm very excited and looking for tips on rooster management. Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul - and sings the tunes without the words - and never stops at all.

Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'S2 weeks ago we completed the move - just across the garden a bit:
They started here, the CSI house - see the crime tape? When the house moved there was a small heap of overwintering But that soon disappeared Wonder where it went? Over the fence... They got a good spring clean
