My knee....My knee....I can't remember if I put here about my knee but last October getting into the car (yep I know...high risk activity!!!!) I twisted my knee - final result was they suspected I had torn the Meniscus (the cartilage in the knee cap)...I've had physio since this time but it hasn't improved and the symptoms of the tear (locking and restricted movement) have continued.
On Thursday my physio phoned and said he was going to make a referral to a specialist because he felt that physio just wasn't doing anything (always trying for the less invasive way to deal with it)...Thursday evening he phoned me back and said can you make 4:50pm Friday? (how's that for speed?!!)....Yep you betcha. Then he said I was going to need an XRAY ...so on Friday morning on my way home I popped into the hospital about 8am and was driving home by 8.15am..all XRAY's done Had a bit of a sleep and then yesterday afternoon went and saw the specialist who was a lovely man...5 mins of prodding and poking and talking and I have to have surgery ...don't really fancy that bit but like that I will be able to move my leg properly again Just got to wait for a date for the op...wonder how quick that will be? (Govt department so might take a little longer than 24 hours ) ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)✰

Re: My knee....Blooming queue jumping Public Servants........ Oh sorry I was reading The Daily Fail just before seeing this post.
Hope they get you sorted soon so that you can get the Sunday roast done Dom Ali Woks My World
Re: My knee....Hope you don't have long to wait Manda and fingers crossed it does the trick
Maybe you should think about getting a stair lift - you don't want to damage the other one in another high risk activity! The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don't have

Re: My knee....Surgery is always a scary option but it seems the right one in this case. You're far too young to be hobbling.
Hope the date comes through quickly - don't forget to milk the family out of all the sympathy and sofa sitting (with chocolates) that you can take Lucy x

Re: My knee....I feel for youy there Manda, knees are one of those things (or two of them) that you don't think about until the go wrong. Fingers crossed that the surgery will get them sorted.

Re: My knee....Sorry to hear the physio didn't do the trick, but I gather that if it is locking up there is most likely a flap of cartilage that is sticking out that can be trimmed off to sort it.
It's usually laparoscopic surgery so just 2 small slits. Still a nuisance for you, though, with all the animals and the kids - I guess you'll be out of action for a while. I have a more minor version, which is why I've genned up on it, and am opting out of surgery for the present as I have no pain and mine doesn't lock up, just gives way occasionally. , hope you don't have too long to wait and that it is a big success. Re: My knee....Just to let you know Manda, I first read this thread early this morning and now I cant get a certain Al Jolson song out of my head ....

Re: My knee....No queue jumping involved here Dom (same as the UK no favouritism) mind you I still think less than 24 hours from referral to appointment was good for here...
Goodness me Ellie I won't be doing anything as risky as using stairs!!!!...we don't have them
Yep that's it ..an arthroscopy...not worried about it although have to say I wished the physio had done the trick ...but no...upside is 2 weeks off work Bob Lucy ...I had never thought of taking advantage of the situation. ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)✰

Re: My knee....Well, maybe this'll teach you not to undertake such dangerous activities without a proper risk assessment - getting in and out of cars - whatever next?!
Hope it all goes well for you. Can you make cheese & rest your knee at the same time post op? "Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder..." Thoreau.
