Advice on sewing machines? {Also present pictures!}Re: Advice on sewing machines? {Also present pictures!}Hello again - I noticed that Ikea have a sewing machine for £45 that looks as though it might be the sort of thing you are looking for. It has a choice of stitches and does buttonholes etc. maybe worth a look at. Hope this helps.
Re: Advice on sewing machines? {Also present pictures!}I haven't read the whole thread, so forgive me if someone has already suggested this, but what about a vintage Singer? I have two, one model 66 hand wheel, which will sew through anything, and an old model 27 treadle. These old machines will last forever, if looked after, and they are also gorgeous. Can be picked up at local auctions, freeads etc. for a reasonable price, a lot less than a modern plastic machine. Decent ones go for quite a bit on ebay. They only do straight stitch, but they are quality works of engineering, made in the days when people took pride in the things they produced. Anyway, something to think about.
