Insect id pleaseInsect id pleaseA friend was telling me yesterday that he saw a 2inch long thin insect with almost a furry wasp/bee type body and small wings half way down its body, with a long protruding sucking type nose like a humming bird. It was dipping into his flowers.
Any ideas? Helen xx

I think he photographed one recently, I'll see if I can find it. "He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."

Re: Insect id pleaseI saw my first one ever this year.
Was hoping it would come again but only spotted the once so far. I had read that they have a regular 'patch' so if they've been once the chances are they'll come again. Mine was attracted to Sage.
Re: Insect id pleaseDidn't believe it, saw one at House Sitting this morning.
I got the camera but it just kept darting about not settling anywhere. Strange looking thinds aren't they!! Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
Re: Insect id pleaseWe had a bed of heather outside our kitchen window in one of my previous homes, and one came to it, but I only saw it once.
Re: Insect id pleaseApparently their numbers have increased by over 200% in the last few years.
Good news when so many creatures are decreasing in numbers. Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
