I was at the top of the garden late this afternoon, clearing part of my wildflower patch (it's far too small to be called a meadow ) when I heard a few squeaking sounds. When I turned round I saw the hens scratching away as they usually do, and thought, although it was a rather odd squealing sound, it was one of the hens, so got back to raking away the cut grass. The squealing continued, which I thought it a bit strange, and so went to investigate and found a couple of the hens pecking away at a poor frog. As soon as I saw it I remembered hearing that sound before, when a cat had caught a frog. They can certainly let out a bit of a scream.
I managed to rescue the poor frightening little creature and to put it somewhere safe. I just hope a cat doesn't get it next.
Here's a picture I took.
