RIP dear little Dottie
RIP dear little DottieI had our Dottie PTS today and really feel her loss. She was gradually going blind and she started losing her balance. She only ate when I actually held her dish in front of her and was losing weight fast. Today she was falling all over the place so I had to do what was needed.
I thought Mareks and the vet agreed and could give me nothing for her. She said that she would just carry on deteriorating so I had no choice. I only have one little chook left, Rosie, who I won't be able to rehome in case she is carrying the virus. Feel so sorry for her but she seems to be alright so far but bedtime might be the time when she misses Dottie. My lovely Dottie who always chatted to me, especially when I said goodnight to them both. She will be so missed after having her for 6yrs. I am now a widow and live with my memories.
Re: RIP dear little DottieWhat a beautiful little girl, June. So sorry for your loss.
Our Rosie was the last surviving girl, and she did very well, though never laid. Re: RIP dear little DottieSo sorry to hear that. We too are down to the last one and while she is ok she has lost her reason to be here as Head Girl with no-one to check on and no-one to talk to.
It is so sad and I often think about solving the problem for her but just can't. She is losing weight and looks awful some mornings with an almost black comb but cheers up a bit through the day and looks forward to a FR when I get home and make a treat. Soon she'll be asleep when I get back so apart from the cat she'll have had no stimulation all day which is just no good really. Dottie was a very pretty hen and you will miss her I'm sure. Mike
Re: RIP dear little DottieHi June
So sorry to read your news, I've had a few who have gone blind toward the end. Not nice to watch but she had a super human Mum. Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome

Re: RIP dear little Dottie
I have only got 1 girl left and she seems to be doing alright. She was always the bottom of the pecking and very timid order so today has had her treats etc with no bother. Time will tell but as she will be my last one and may possibly have the virus, she will be spoilt rotten. I am now a widow and live with my memories.
