Hope.Hope.I have been very busy lately, so I have been unable to take on any dogs other than my 'girls' Missy, Tina and Sally.
But now, hopefully, things will quieten down a bit and the staff have asked me to be Hope's new friend. She is a Lurcher and seems to have all the problems that Missy had. She is just 2 years old. Was rehomed and bought back after 4 days......what !!! People amaze me. She, like Sally, wasn't given a chance. No dog, or puppy, automatically fits in after days. With a rescue it will be at least 6 months before they settle. If you look at her face on the left side, to you, she has a lot of her top lip missing. Heaven knows how that happened, poor baby. Anyway come Monday she has a new friend...me. http://www.busheyk9.co.uk

If someone brings a dog back after four days it makes me think that they are not vetting potential adopters properly. Ilona

No girls at the moment but look forward to getting more in the future. Proud mummy to Hector, a Bedlington Terrier x Jack Russell
Re: Hope.Oh she's lovely, lurchers are my favorite dogs, they're so gentle.

You would think wouldn't you. Ilona But the rehoming process takes 3 weeks !. With all the checks. With both girls, the new owners were told the issues the dog had. When they bought them back they cited the exact things they were told and took them with. It is maddening, I think the people think it isn't as bad as the staff make out http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Re: Hope.Well after the baking weather. Today I finally got around to taking Hope out.
I had her out for an hour, sitting in the shade. Me telling her my troubles and Hope telling me hers. I think we have an understanding, that I would prefer to be in charge. She was a good girl, never attempted to nip me. Had a bit of lunatic zoomies on the lead. But sat when I asked her to. I just think she needs a bit of guidance, as to how to behave. Popping in tomorrow just to see her as I have an appointment. But once I start, I don't like to let them down, until they are steady. More later http://www.busheyk9.co.uk

Re: Hope. She is beautiful Wendy, love lurchers and greyhounds, used to foster them many years ago and never any trouble.

Re: Hope.I was with Hope again today.
She had a little session of the zoomies, as Lurchers and Greyhounds do Then she calmed down and we had a game of go find, did a little play training.... where she is training but doesn't know it. Then she walked back to her kennel nicely. I had a couple of staff with me in the paddock and they said she is far calmer with me, so that is good. Just teaching her a little self control http://www.busheyk9.co.uk

Saturday all went well had her normal zoomies in a paddock and then settled and acted like dog, mooching around and sniffing for about 30 minutes. Then I walked her around the field and she was a good girl walking nicely. Just getting back to the entrance to the kennels she went bl**dy mad Pranced around like a bucking bronco. So I went straight into a paddock and let her off. She ran like a thing possessed.... I am sure she doesn't get enough exercise . After getting that madness out of her system. She then walked sensibly back to her kennel. Poor little girl. Today all went well and she was calm going back. It must be horrid to be that pent up with energy and no way to get it out of your system. Onward and upward http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Re: Hope.Just an update.
I have had Hope about 5 weeks now, sadly as the weather has been so blooming hot I haven't gone as consistently as I had hoped. She is getting such a good girl. We have about 5 minutes of zoomies during the 3/4 of an hour I have her. The rest of the time she acts like a 'dog' lol Does beautiful heelwork on and off lead...in the quiet paddock. But when other dogs are around I have to work harder to keep her focus, but she is getting there. I think the lip problem, is because she has been attacked, as she also has a bit out of her ear. So it isn't surprising she is a bit reactive when other dogs are around. I will get her past that. No interest, but she is a black dog and they are much harder to rehome. Three out of my four are black. http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
