Re: MinsmereVery well done to get a photo of the bittern Richard they are very shy birds and rarely seen. And same for the otter. Lovely photos, you do have a good eye for nature photography.
Must head that way myself sometime. I love a bit of wildlife photography. Although when taking birds I often wish I had a zoom of 400-500! Karen

Re: MinsmereHi Karen
400mm is about the minimum for birds. Mine is 150x600 Sigma. Sigma is way the cheapest, mine was £700. If you go for Nikon or Canon 400 lens, or 200 with a teleconverter you're looking at a couple of Grand minimum. Minsmere is really large and has Marsh, Wetland, Woodland and Field so attracts many kinds of wildlife. It's busier than Dungeness due to the Springwatch effect, but some great viewing points, plus the beach as well. My Campsite was about a mile away just on other side of Dunwich Heath. The Restaurant there is really good, you can main course, cake and coffee for just about a tenner Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
Re: MinsmereHi Richard
Ah that explains why you get such great close ups. Mine's the tamron 70-300 which is a cracking lens but you can never get good close ups of teeny birds. I think the husband would go mental if I bought another expensive lens! I have quite a collection going at the moment including a lovely macro lens (another tamron). Minsmere definitely sounds like it's worth a visit Karen

Re: MinsmereHi Karen
You could look at a Converter. Just need to ensure it works with auto focus OK. Maybe ebay? The Bearded Tit was about 25 meters away, Bittern about 100 - 120 meters. Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
