Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?
Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?I didn't know about that either, so thanks, Richard. Will use that.
Fully intend to join in on this, Mo, but just back from a few days away and still not into the routine. Will declare my hand later this week in terms of targets and start date, but useful to be thinking about. It's a question of time and when to fit everything in for best effect. Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?Meant to take the U3A local history group for a walk round my patch today, but 2 of those who said they were coming didn't turn up so I gave the talk first, by which time it was pelting down so we had coffee instead!
Annoying - though anyway we were waiting for someone who got hopelessly lost and I missed her phone call as I was standing at the corner of the lane. Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html

If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?Sounds good, but why just walking. What about Jiggling too.

If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?I just checked my Fitbit and I've walked 990 miles in a year. We try to go swimming once a week too but when it's really cold it's hard to motivate ourselves to go. I now have to walk Daisy on my own as OH still can't walk very fast and I use a google app to measure my speed and most of the time it's about 3.2mph, I am short but I walk quite quickly as I don't really enjoy it

The last .7 was a brisk road walk - we had detoured off the footpaths because of mud, and I wanted a quick lunch before my afternoon appointment, so I went ahead. Puffing by the time I got to the car park Yeld lane has 2 steep hills, so up / down /up. Ilona's linktells me that my total ascent was 272 feet, and that 22 of that was in the last .7 miles
Then add 1 mile this afternoon, brisk road walking. So 7 to date. ("could do better") Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html

Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?That's good Mo.
If you have an all singing and dancing mobile, there's an App for that called 'Map my walk'. Works on GPS so is 'live' so to speak. Good news is you shouldn't ever get lost !! I have it but hardly ever use it. This morning I walked my Patch, so about 2 miles. Nothing about but got me out. With Dungeness, Rye Harbour, local Lakes, twice around my Patch, I've walked just over 20 miles since last Saturday. Richard New Member? Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?Done a bit of walking but not much, am getting the exercise bike out again so can clock up a bit on that. The blasted weather put the dampers on getting out much at present.
Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?Yes, doesn't it.
Another stroll down the village street (which I thought was for a hearing test, but they don't do them there any more, so she made me another appointment for ears syringing and referred me for test at the hospital). Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html
Sunny Clucker enjoyed Folk music and song in mid-Cheshire Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?Slow start to the year as far as walking goes. But I've been dancing and calling (which in my case probably involves more prancing around than when I'm dancing. Anyway January had 3 walks with the U3A +some pottering about. Total of 19 miles for the month.
The first half of Feb has had a U3a walk, a stroll round Chester with the U3a History group and some walking round my patch looking for walks to take the U3A Strollers group - not more than 4 miles and prefer no stiles. I've offered the organiser a choice of 3. So that brings my total up to 31 and a half miles. Nowhere near the target - but maybe it will be better as the weather improves. How is anyone else doing? Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?Have managed to get couple of short walks in last week and this weather still mostly rubbish. Also got the exercise bike out.
Re: Anyone for 'own pace' fun-walking?6 with the U3A midway group yesterday - several of us were flagging by the end. There are 3 groups, I wondered if I'd be fit enough for the Striders - now I think maybe I should stick with the Strollers. And on Wed I must have walked 'miles' around the field helping my daughter move fences - well, best part of a mile anyway as she sent me backward and forward to fetch and carry.
So 38. Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html
