The BlackbirdPlain and simple with a beautiful song
The Blackbird is a member of the Thrush family. It is estimated there are over 6 million breeding pairs in the UK. The male (photo above) is pretty much jet black and has a yellow beak. The female is more a light brown but similar in size. On Summer evening's the Blackbird is easily distinguishable by it's beautifull mellow song which will last for quite a while. They will also sing after rainful at any time of the day. They are pretty much high in the bird pecking order, but Starlings usually have one over them. Taking about 14 days to build a Nest, they will live almost anywhere from Woods to Urban Parks. Their diet consists mainly of worms, snails and are quite partial to Berry Fruits.
