Someone should take my tools away! THE FINISHED ITEM

Post by AL37 »

So there I was doing the rounds of where I get my pallets etc from (with a completely different project in mind) when I came across this pile of wood. It was offered to me at my favorite price if I could get it away asap. :-D So within the hour it was at my place.

Image

A good rumage through it gave me some inspiration of what to do with it. Lets face it its got to be pretty bad before it gets on my firewood pile. I choose these pieces for the first project.

Image

It turns out after a bit of investigation these are the timbers and bellows from an old church organ. Here is a pic of a very similar bellows in situ.

Image

So out came the tools and very soon things started to take shape.

It was going to be a bench for my shed but a couple of people have seen it and said I was mad to use it as a work bench. :? I will be filling the two holes in the top with some pine to match whats already there. I intend to run over it with the belt sander but I am going for a waxed rustic finish.
So whats under all that horrible paint?

Image

So what do you think, a work bench or a chabby chick dining table? {rofwl}

Be careful with that approach Al. Your other half could well retaliate and start calculating how much to charge for what she does for you!
