Want to learn hedge laying? FREE!Want to learn hedge laying? FREE!A farm by Fountains Abbey, near Ripon in North Yorks is hosting the 21st Yorkshire Hedge Laying Championships and I'm fairly keen to attend after several years missing it. Anyone fancy being my wing man or woman?
I'm in the easy class, not up against professionals and it's totally informal. Nobody takes it seriously, faults are expected. For the Novice class it's 2 person teams, either one doing the actual work or sharing equally. Lots of people use it as a crash course in losing your hands to billhooks (sorry, laying hedges). Please, if you fancy it, let me know. Or you could attend under your own steam of course - details from Ken Walmsley on 01765 620378 (but please be aware he's a horse owner so up early) Anyone? Pleeeeeeeeeease @Sheldonatsov

Re: Want to learn hedge laying? FREE!Sorry, forgot to check the posts - almost missed your offer!
It's saturday November 3rd. The plot draw (when they tell you which length of hedge you're doing) is 8.30 am and work is done by 3pm. With the prize giving it's usually dusk before most people leave. They provide a bacon sandwich at lunch, but I always took coffee anyway as I'm greedy. Dogs are welcome (my horrible little Jack Russell is going) and lots of competitors take partners. There are some people who turn up to watch, and some press on occasions too. Let me know if you can make it, I've not competed in years and miss it. Being a weak little thing, I need help hacking at the hedge and frankly it's just more fun working in twos! @Sheldonatsov
My horrible dog's a Twit(ter) Re: Want to learn hedge laying? FREE!Right, we'll all want to see pictures of your work and others. Mrs F can take a camera (or is she just packing the flasks and staying home in the warm?)
