Davina's 2013 grow our own diary
Re: Davina's 2013 grow our own diarySorry to bore everyone with more pics, but it's nice to look back and compare each year.
So here goes, I think the runner beans that were yellow are looking lightly better Spotted tiny broad beans Decided to take some of the lower leaves off the tomatoe plants as they were very big and I am sure taking lots of goodness from the soil, hope I haven't done the wrong thing Pak choi coming on nicely Onions in the little bed not doing so well think my little feathered friends using it as a dust bath doesn't help Not veg growing I know but I spotted a bee on the water iris this morning Davina
Re: Davina's 2013 grow our own diaryNothing in particular to report after my morning brouse around the garden, things in general just look to be growing

Re: Davina's 2013 grow our own diaryEverything is so much ahead, my water iris are still only thinking about flowering

Re: Davina's 2013 grow our own diaryLast night I found the slug culprit that I knew was somewhere in the greenhouse, but had evaded capture. It is no more

Re: Davina's 2013 grow our own diaryYippee, this morning I found the first strawberry turning color, it is a nice shade of pink, hope its red when I arrive home from work

Re: Davina's 2013 grow our own diaryTHE strawberry is almost there but not quite red all over. I mentioned t to hubby yesterday hen I arrived home from work, he too had spotted it. So sad people we are we had a discussion about who should have it, looks like we are sharing.
We had a good old down pour yesterday evening, just what the garden needed Davina
Re: Davina's 2013 grow our own diaryBusy day weeding.
Cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts and leaks Beans in poly tunnel Peas Sweetcorn, not doing too well as the chookies keep squashing them, I have now put some wire around them Finally, I don't think I will bother planting cabbage in the poly tunnel any more as it didn't do very well Davina
Re: Davina's 2013 grow our own diaryI am starting to enjoy the fruits of my labour, so far I am eating lots of varieties of lettuce including rocket, radishes, yesterday had second lot of potatoes (delicious), there are a couple of strawberries ready, have been eating cabbages for weeks, now the pak choi look ready so tomorrow night we will have stir fried beef, mushroom, onion and pak choi in black bean sauce with boiled rice, I have onions left from last year.

Re: Davina's 2013 grow our own diaryI guess I have made a mistake with the sweetcorn in the poly tunnel, everyone told me t was too close together but I wanted to see how they faired, well the one t the back has an ear of corn growing out of the top so it probably won't get any bigger now Well I know for next year
Tomatoes in the green house not grown them before, called hundreds and thousands. Well that will be the case if they all ripen, the plants are very spindly though Poly tunnel tomatoe looking good, this is the biggest one so far This truss has 14 tomatoes and a further 2 flowers Cucumbers doing ok Broad beans doing ok Runner beans doing ok Spotted first 2 pea pods Lastly brassicas moving along now Davina
