Keep them apart when you are not there when you have time to be with them let them all free range together - that way you ca...

Fast food places

Has everyone seen the news that India is now awaking to the greed of the fast food empire? The problem is that there, poor people live on grain, now this is being given to cattle for burgers, so the poor starve. Hiya, I'm new and feeling guilty

Hi kattcottrell Have you tried petroleum jelly on the young ones combs? They don't usually like the taste of it and stop. It is hard when they are getting their pecking order sorted out. Is it possible to separate during the day with a partition so they can see each other. They can sleep together (d...

Help - worried about hen - is she broody?

Al B

How is she presenting? is her tail down (not sticking up), are her feathers ruffled, has she got any lumpy/swollen areas underneath? What colour is her comb - is it pale? Is her crop swollen? Have you checked her vent?

I did not know you had a cockerel - the reason for being broody.

Spring onions, beetroot, spinach beet and swede seeds were planted last Sat - today the swede are up??
I expect the rain that we are now having will wash them away!

Carrot and parsnip seeds are in and most of the plants from the greenhouse.

Parsley still hasn't germinated.

Help, very odd behaviour - she's herring!

Hi denise

I had that with one of my old ones.....it could have been that she did not like the new one and was trying to suffocate her....I kept the 2 pairs separate as I was able to then.
If you think it is something else then this happens - crowing hens etc.

Hi saint-spoon You should be able to buy seed potatoes via a search engine. Grow them in a bucket or pot somewhere warm - that way you will get an early crop. The taste is from the potato as are all of them - I am not a connoisseur, I do know there are so many different tastes amongst all the variet...
