Re: Celeriac

I tried celeriac two years running, different varieties, with the same results as you.
I had the same results with swede, in fact it turns out no one on our allotments have ever been very successful with either. There has to be something lacking in the soil? >veg<
I can grow amazing carrots though! >veg1<

Wild Burma

I don't have a TV but I pulled this up on iPlayer. The huge variety of wild life and the last breeding ground for tigers all threatened by loggers! Let's hope they can persuade them to get some sort of protection.

Most of the winter dig done now, just a case of hoeing and pruning. What would you do with four of these?

The council flats I live in are having all new PVC windows, replacing well made hard wood frames. All the way from the rain forest to be thrown away and replaced with plastic! I've had a chat with the boss man, and because they didn't do mine when they said they would, he's promised me four full pat...

I've already invested, keeps your nose warm too! Found it on Amazon, £20 including P&P. The heating's turned off and I'm literally as snug as a bug in a rug!

Storing seeds

My pal on the allotments stores saved seeds in the foil type bags you get cup-a soup in, which is the sort of material the little inner bags in seed packs are made from. I've just done a fruitless search for suitable bags. Lots of polythene and paper but not foil! I suppose I shall have to start loo...

Re: Mallard's 2013 diary.

It's pretty much over now bar the shouting! Quite a few leeks still in, a few carrots, the best I've ever grown and no fly (nantes), cape gooseberries that are not likely to ripen and some yellow courgettes for cake making. I had to rip out the outdoor girl tomatoes and burn them due to blight. The ...
