Re: Plastic bagsYou can get small bin bags for pedal bins that are about the same size as carrier bags. The ones at my local smarket come in either draw string or handle variety. Another way round it is to buy fresh meat, fish, razor, knives blades, veg and axes and ask for a seperate carrier bag for each item and ...
Re: Strictly Come Dancing back Been desperate to get back here as I was out yesterday. It was when I was getting dinner prepared on the day that I put this up that it suddenly clicked that I had spelled strictly wrong. A very senior moment! Hope my misspelling hasn't put anyone off Don't know what you're talking about June Dom
Frugalish If You Are a BT CustomerOur youngest has just started Uni with our eldest now in her third year and like most youngsters have their mobile phones whose calling minutes are precious and become pricey if you go over your limit. I found out the other day, that if you are a BT customer, you can download the BT Smart Talk app w...
Re: ex-batts or posh birds? To a certain extent it is luck of the draw, some chooks just live longer than others. Generally though an ex batt won't live, with you, as long as a point of lay simply because it is older when you get it. Pure breeds tend to live longer than Hybrids and have a longer laying life because they lay le...
Re: Which poultry bedding is best for composting? We use a bedding that is a mix of wood shavings and chopped straw which is pretty snuggly for the chooks and reasonably absorbant. It's made for horses stabling and works well for us. The shavings are thin so don't take as long to rot down as some others we have used and I filled a cubic meter compo...
Re: How to deter a visiting cockerelAfternoon Bluefinch, Greetings and welcome to The Lane I'm making some assumptions here but to me it sounds like the neighbour's chooks are completely free range with no attempt to keep them in their home area or at least not enough to prevent the boy escaping. Is he waking you at 5am by being in yo...
Re: Do You Know What It Is Yet (Spatula)I think I may have cracked the photo problem but it is no one hell of a roundabout route to get them on here Hope it's worked this time As requested by my daughters I have now made them each a spatula to match their spoons. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/NocFNCWl4HcJHbdXTp7MFLrhoIk8J3O2B2mi-Zr5ZI...
Re: Do You Know What It Is Yet (Spatula)Pushed the same combination of buttons I usually do to get photos on here and I can see them. Unless the place the photos are stored has changed something
The photos I posted previously have a much much shorter data string that the latest lot I will keep fiddling. Dom
Re: Do You Know What It Is Yet (Spatula) I can't see the photos Dom - it just says 'image'. Is it just me? They show up on my 'puter but I don't know if that's just because I posted them and no one else can see them or not. Are you looking on your phone? Sometimes a phone makes you tell it you want to look at photos before it lets you. Dom

Re: Courgetti So Dom, I am confused You made courgette spaghetti from chopped/diced/sliced courgettes from your mandolin? How is it spaghetti then? I was explaining what my cheapo mandolin could do cutty choppy wise generally. To make the courgetti spaghetti we peeled a courgette, put the thin slicy dicey blade ...
Re: CourgettiJune, We've got a cheap mandolin that cost about £10 fifteen years ago. It has two insert thingies which are reversable, one side being flat and the other a row of blades. One makes thin slices one side and thin slice and diced on the other while the other insert does chunkier slices or dices. It is...
Re: Starting to forage firewood Hi Dom I just collect two types now; Kindling and medium 1" - 2" diameter dead stuff to get the fire going then put the Solid fuel eggs on. Richard As it happens I have a stack of sticks around that diameter that I trimmed off the stuff I turned into logs and you're welcome to it if you w...
