lovely job Brian. )t'
I can only add maybe a piece of paving slab on top of nesting box or a lock, just so Mr Fox had no chance of lifting the lid up with his nose and getting in..

Re: PURPLE comb & wattle

Purple comb does suggest a difficulty in breathing and lack of oxygen. When it has happened to my girls it has been a problem with impacted crop. Live maggots sorted it as they eat their way through the impacted food and free the problem. I get my maggots from a fishing tackle shop..

Re: What shall I put in the new run?

Hi Brian My girls love logs to hop on and every month I turn over the loose logs to expose lice etc.. Tyre filled with sand is always used and I also use those fat ball feeders and hang them stuffed with cabbage leaves or apple slices, in summer I pick dandelions and stuff the full with the leaves t...

Good luck with the Daktarin with your poorly girl, assume she has sour crop. Hope she gets better.
I too lied when I bought my stock for the med cabinet for the girls......I'm normally an honest person! :-D

Re: Skyline vs Cream legbar

Yikes, did I say my girls was a nightmare! I have 2 skylines and a legbar and when I first got them there were all a bit skitish compared to the cool, calm ex bats......and the skyline, Penny, did fly the length of the garden and perched on the outside fence looking at the world beyond.. To keep the...

Re: Pecking order

My thoughts would be to make it nice and dark, I have a window in mine which I have painted. They may settle quicker and snuggle down together keeping nice and warm.

Re: what do you do with your hens that have died

I bury my girls in the run, that way they always stay together as a flock and there is no danger of them being dug up. They all are wrapped in a white sheet, with a bouquet of seasonal flowers and a token of their favourite food....it's quite a ceremony, we have lost 10 ex batt girls over the last 3...

Re: I'm concerned can anyone help

Chickens love pasta and spaghetti is quite hilarious to watch them 'share'.
However pasta is not protein, it is carbs.
Good protein is mealworms, tuna fish, pilchards, mealworms, fishy catfood......
