Re: Any good examples of plastic recycling ?Well done with your Eco bricks, LL. I made about three before lockdown. What a brilliant idea for the borders of your raised beds, I hope you are able to use them some time soon.
Re: Good Old TV ComedyOn the Buses was on repeats before Christmas, I managed to catch one or two.
Re: Have you stopped using your oven?Your loaf looks brilliant, Michael. How long did it take to bake? My breadmaker takes three hours for a white loaf, so rather a lot of electricity. I am not physically capable of hand kneading nowadays, and my big mixer with a dough hook expired several years since, after doing a weekly bake for a h...
Re: Good Old TV ComedyI remember George and Mildred. Nowadays TV comedy is pretty poor, and relies heavily on subjects I would not watch.
I loved The Royle Family.
Re: Have you stopped using your oven?I bought an air fryer some months since and since the , have used my oven very little. I do cook a rice pudding in the oven still, unsure how the air fryer would turn one out. For potatoes in their jackets, I microwave for about ten minutes, then air fry for about a further ten minutes, depending on...
Re: Cats, cats and more cats!I always had a cat, until I met my husband, who had a dog, a large German Shepherd, my most feared breed. My youngest son continued to live in the family home, and had the cat. My husband and I got a rescue cat, who lived happily with our Rough Collie, and two shelties. I love cats and dogs.
Re: How does your garden grow?Yes Mo, the daffs and yellow crocusses are so cheerful. To me, the winter has seemed very long.
Re: How does your garden grow?My garden is growing very well, thank you. The grass needs cutting, and my lawnmower went a few weeks' back to be overhauled, hope it returns soon. All but two of the crocuses Ted planted on the front lawn have failed to survive. They also edged the drive and were beautiful, however they have appear...
Re: Any good examples of plastic recycling ?Good for you Trev. )ot: I have been trying to find your early posts, without success. I remember finding them most interesting. I watch frugality posts on You Tube, most of the content is what I have done all my homemaking life, but one useful tip was washing greaseproof paper after us. It does work!
Re: Honeysuckle and clematis plantsI have thrown them out. Thanks for info LL.
Honeysuckle and clematis plantsBefore Christmas I bought honeysuckle and clematis from a firm on Amazon. The first clematis died, but I had the grower's catalogue, and after phoning him, he replaced it. Both plants have shown no signs of life, despite careful watering. I thought I would contact him again and complain, but my boug...
Re: Aldi magic bagsThanks for the details, LL. I haven't ordered one yet, my son would bring a bag at the weekend if I do order. I follow a couple on You Tube who live in Portugal, and they have recently had a similar shop. The asking price for the bag was two pounds, and they unpacked it on the video. To me it looked...
Aldi magic bagsMy son sent me a link about the above. These bags have to be booked, and cost £3.30 each, think I have got the price right. My nearest Aldi is over ten miles away, so I will not be using this, but hoping my son will book and bring on4 me at the weekend.
Re: Growing your own to lower food costs - 2023Oh well done with the photos, LL. I wouldn't know where to start. Ted managed it when we first got hens, with difficulty, I might add.
I love runner beans, and have a packet waiting for the right time to sow.
Re: Free p&p seed suppliersI have most of my seeds for this year's tubs and hanging baskets, bought from a well known mail order company. However before Christmas I sent for a clematis and a honeysuckle. The clematis looked unlikely to survive, so I contacted the supplier, who sent a replacement. The original plant is survivi...
