Re: Run sizeSame story here, we went and looked at some pre-made stuff and they were all absolutely shockingly small. We drove home shocked yet pleased that we hadn't fallen into the trap of buying one. The illusion created by the initial photo of some "coop and run combos" can be quite disorientating...
Re: Chooks and Cats Quite honestly cats come into a lower pecking order where chickens are concerned(obviously not chicks), my girl attacked next doors cat when she was free ranging, poor Pip was terrified I have to agree with you sandy, Norman and Chloe don't venture out when Kylie, Maggie and Betty are on patrol !!!!
Re: Any advise for nest boxes? We got three plastic boxes for our birds, we got them from ikea. The boxes measure approx 12" x 14" and 6" high. They were only £1.89 each and were easy to trim as well.
Pecking order.....We have gradually noticed over the past few weeks who seems to be "in charge" within our group of three girls and it appears to be Betty the speckledy hen. Re: Why does allIt never ceases to amaze me whenever I go to do the daily morning pooh pick. There are always three copious little piles in three different places.
Some of it is verging on modern art !!!! BTW, we had one little wet one today
Re: Wing clipping question........ As long as your fencing is a reasonable height and there is nothing for them to go up and over on. I would say you don't need to do it. If heaven forbid a fox gets in, they at least stand a chance of fluttering up and away, but none at all without their wings. I take your point Wendy and with hinds...
