Re: First Egg of The Year....A very basic picture of Amber.
Re: First Egg of The Year....She's a Welsumer. I've been giving her some porridge oats and limestone flour, sometimes she eats it, sometimes not, but that's only been a recent thing. I guess time will tell if it is helping. One of her sisters had an egg break on the way out. I did manage to get that out. Warm bath, latex gloves...
Re: First Egg of The Year....Holy Thread Resurrection, Batman!! My old lady is still going. She has laid twice this year. The first had such a thin shell, it was cracked open were she laid it, the 2nd I managed to rescue, still a very thin shell though. Not really bothered if she lays or not, but just hoping they pop out with n...
Re: Does anyone actually watch Game of Thrones ?There are a few spin offs in the works.
I don't think the last series was quite as bad as some would have you believe, if you read the internet, but it was rushed, there was so much more story that could have been told. I didn't see the very ending coming, but not truly surprised. :)
Re: Crumpets - a bit of a challengeLooking online, pikelets are closer to a scotch pancake.
I suppose I always saw pikelets as a flat crumpet type thing. In my world muffins are a bready type flat bap thing. Obviously the american version is a cupcake.
Re: Crumpets - a bit of a challengeMy (very few) attempts at making crumpets always end up with me pulling the rings off and ending up with something closer to pikelets.
Totally edible, but not crumpets. I guess I need better rings, but never really think about it until I want to make some haha.
Re: Save money on hairdressing. Are you not walking around with red ears? :P
I've always home dyed, a bit more practice and you get better at not dying the ears and half the face :) It can be an absolute nightmare getting the dye off skin. A line of vaseline can apparently help, I've never tried that though.
Re: First Egg of The Year....I got the ladies when they were 6 weeks old. A lady local to me had raised a few chickens herself, my neighbour told me about them and we trundled off and met the chicken family. A couple of weeks later we toddled off with the cat basket and brought a trio of mini dinosaurs home :) The one left now ...
First Egg of The Year....My old lady, the last one left of the trio, has laid her first egg since last year. (she laid about 6 last year !).
She's gonna be 8 years old in a month or so.
Re: anyone use a jam thermometer?Could you try to rescue it?
Reboil and add water. Not entirely sure how much, or how long, just know it is possible.
Re: If pH wrong for watercress....I've grown watercress in my pond. Like Mo says, buy a bag of watercress from the supermarket. You see little roots on it. Drop it into some water and away it goes.
I had newts laying eggs on it at my old house. I don't actually eat what I grow, i just keep thinking of the fish streamers lol.
Re: anyone use a jam thermometer?I've only ever used a saucer. Side plate to be more precise :P. I also put the plate in the freezer beforehand to help with the cooling.
Re: My cat has a runny nose viruses and bacteria that cause sneezing, sore throat and runny nose tend to be species specific so your cold shouldn't really be passed on to the cat but there might be something like an allergy such as dust or pollen? I think with cat colds you just have to keep an eye on them to make sure they d...
Re: Waste not ....I chop and freeze raw things like onions and peppers. I've cooked up baking potatoes, scooped the flesh out, mashed it with whatever (usually butter and cheese), reload the potato skins and freeze those. I've read you can freeze bananas, never tried myself though. I've started to just buy 2 or 3 the...
