Re: Eclaire's adventures in chicken keeping.

Thanks all - I'm already planning extensions and future additions! At some point I want a large white hen (Orp maybe? don't see a lot in white) who will suit the name Camille a bit better and also I've become obsessed with getting a couple of Marsh Daisy's since they're from round here and were crea...

Re: Eclaire's adventures in chicken keeping.

Well we've still got loads more to do but I've been having loads of fun!. Had 4 eggs a day so far, with the odd broken/softie one too. There's still a bit of chicken apartheid going on but more chasing than pecking. Nancy, the Speckeldy, has been hanging out with the rescue hens a bit. I've renamed ...

Re: Eclaire's adventures in chicken keeping.

Thanks both! Andy came up with the idea for the run on Friday when he spotted the massive plastic pipes were relatively cheap. I'd already got the mesh (but not as much as I thought I'd bought- oops!) and we'd dug in short fat wooden posts on Thursday when we thought we were going to make wooden fra...

Flick, our 9 year old next do...

Re: Eclaire's adventures in chicken keeping.

Finally got something to show you - As you can see from the fencing it's been stupidly windy as well as snowy this week so yet again a lot of planning and not a lot of doing! Got me, my brother and OH planned in all day tomorrow to finish it off. This is the coop framework in situ, from behind. http...

By "normal one" do you mean Internet Explorer? I'd advise giving Chrome a try - if you can get used to it it's miles better. I use firefox cos I like to customise it- I've got an ad blocker on it so never get any adverts online!

Re: Eclaire's adventures in chicken keeping.

Well as you can see from other threads I'm now getting 9 hens a week tomorrow! We have all of the materials together now but can't really do much cos a) snow, b) Andy's in Scotland and c) I'm at the studio. So next week will be a busy week! Here's some pics to keep you going! 1st 2 are the garden an...

Re: Fresh Start for Hens - Swinton(Manchester)

And a convoluted search for chickens is what brought me to this thread and this forum! I snook in on the reserve list and got a cancellation so I'll be in Swinton to pick up 3 on the 30th.

Re: NEW HOME NEEDED FOR MY CHICKENS, PLEASE

Hi Jackie I've taken a note of your mobile number -would recommend taking it out of the post cos you never know who's looking! I'm very sleepy this evening so will call you tomorrow when I'm likely to make more sense! Head of construction (other half) is off gigging in Scotland for a few days from t...
