Hi, have you tryed eBay hatching eggs sometimes the people selling the hatching eggs have hens for sale as well if you ask them. Or if you can hatch eggs you will get them on eBay. Good luck.

That would explain it then....if you mix some chick crumb in with the layers (don't just feed chick crumb as it doesn't have a high enough calcium content) but the chick crumb has a higher protein content so a handful with the feed ...easier way of adding protein ..or as I said there are other ways...
