Hybrids and add Pure breeds at a later date, that's what I did. :)

Re: How much noise do 3 chickens produce?

As said, it's all really down to the individual. Most of mine are quiet unless something sets them off like song birds warning of a hawk or large pigeon..

My faverolle however starts honking at any opportunity, still it's not too loud or offensive.

Re: Neighbors complaining about noise.

I'd not worry till you hear anything from the council which as said you woulda by now I would assume. The level and duration of noise permitted will be alot higher than you think.

I probably eat 1 out of every 50 I give away. I got chickens for entertainment more than the eggs.

Re: Neighbors complaining about noise.

If they're trying to make the hens noisy by making noise that'd get recorded also. I'd recommend making a note of times and dates of when the neighbours are loud so you can offer that to council to cross reference if it comes to that.

Re: Neighbors complaining about noise.

A couple of mine like to shout about it a little when they lay an egg and that can be noisy, but no noiser than a dog barking at a door or a car deicing in the morning.

Re: Neighbors complaining about noise.

Let them put their equipment up, unless the noise is constant, a certain volume and at antisocial times I very much doubt they could do a single thing.
Where are you from?

Re: We want to add some new hens

Pure araucanas lay green/blue eggs as does my "crested" hybrid. She's a leg bar based hen I believe. This is what mine are currently spitting out, the smaller ones are my new girls and my crested.. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p278/taximan19/Mobile%20Uploads/20140303_173859_zpskzl9ng...
