Re: Films

I haven't seen 'John Wick 2' yet. More violent than the first one? Well on par, they will need three times as many extras for the third one though!! Ha! I've seen it now and see what you mean. It is getting a bit daft isn't it?! Agreed, it will be interesting to see how they intend to pull off part...

Re: Roses: What are your favourites?

There are a lot of roses I like. I made a Danish Royal family rose garden. You will find all Royals have a rose named after them. We have now moved onto Royal Castles, of which most have them have roses named after them. Yes, it is hard to pin it down to just one or two, isn't it! Do you have any p...

Bugs and the Victorians

'Bugs and the Victorians' by JFM Clark, a history professor at St. Andrew's and writer of some biographies for the Oxford National Biography. I have to say that it is a fascinating read and partial history tracking the early naturalists (starts his focus in the 18th century) through to the zenith of...

Re: Roses: What are your favourites?

It's not age Wendy, it's hard to keep up with the names as the horticulturalists keep re-categorising and re-naming a lot of them. ;)

Helen, that sounds like an idyllic job to me! The scent at the nursery must have been quite something. :)

Hope so, as I couldn't resist and have bought two to frame the shed! This will result in the usual conversation.

Husband: Are they new?
Me: No, they've been there ages.
Husband: Really?
Me: Yes.
Husband: Oh.

Re: Films

Yes, we enjoyed 'Eye in the Sky' too. Very thought-provoking and a bit sad too, as it was Alan Rickman's very last performance.

I haven't seen 'John Wick 2' yet. More violent than the first one?

Re: Films

Trev, you've got me on a roll now. I loved Enders Game! Some others to give a go if you haven't already: 'Red' and 'Red2' - stands for 'retired, extremely dangerous'. Great cast: Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Bruce Willis. Really hilarious! The other is also a double-act entitled 'No...

Re: Films

Love my films! 'Arrival' and 'The Magnificent Seven' were too that I enjoyed recently. I also enjoyed 'Hidden Figures' which is now nominated for the Oscars. Some great old footage in there of the first US rockets and an inspiring storyline as well as a good cast. It made a refreshing change from th...

Re: Louise's Chicken Diary

Hello you two!

Yup, sick of the rain and mud too! I put some wood chippings down in the main footfall areas on Friday. So much better than it was!

Looking forward to a spot of pottering too. Come on Spring, get a move on!

Re: Operation Chicken Run!

Good afternoon, My flock were busy planting lavender today. They particularly liked scratching for worms and found quite a few. After some fresh soil was added to the planting hole, Little Miss decided that it was a lovely place to settle for a nap. However much Vicky tried to move her, so that she ...

Hello,

Please ignore the second video that I posted, seems that I posted the wrong link!

Thank you LL, that's helpful information. I will let the others know, should they want to try again.

Just for Fun: Exploding Cucumber Challenge!

So! Last year I heard about this particular cucumber and it amused me immensely, as well as few other plot holders. I obtained some seeds and distributed them, but none of us were successful in getting them to germinate. Anyway, if anyone is up for giving them a go that would be great. Do please let...

Re: Minxy's Growing Diary

This post is really for those who are thinking about keeping an allotment. I don't know everything (nobody does) and there are certainly some extremely qualified plotholders on here who can always offer their suggestions. But I just felt that after starting my diary the way I did (and I did have an ...
