Re: Bacon and Sweetcorn Pie £1

This pie and variations of it have indeed become a regular meal for us. Not only is it cheap but it is also very quick to make and you can add what ever you like as a filling. Last night I fried onion, bacon and tiny cubes of potato until browned and put this in the pie case then made four small wel...

Re: Bacon and Sweetcorn Pie £1

It is quite a moist pie but you could easily make a white sauce or gravy to go with this. Just another pan to wash up

Last night we had Bacon and Sweetcorn Pie which I found on Thrifty Lesley's Blog It was really easy to make and tastes delicious. Talk to me about carrots.

Morning All
I have tried growing carrots in the past but have never had any success so I am wondering "What is the secret to growing proper carrots?"

We eat a lot of carrots so it makes sense to grow them. They also store well and are quick and easy to cook.

Why can't I grow them?

Re: Forthcoming TV advertising

Advertisers are getting wise to people watching on demand and fast forwarding through the commercial breaks. You see a lot more programmes sponsored by companies now and there will also be a lot more product placement in the future. I don't know if it is just me getting older and more discerning or ...

Oak is not a fast growing species though.

Re: Christmas TV!

It is a bit weird us no longer getting BBC channels. I think it might be the antenna but I can't be bothered to check it at the moment as TV is well down the list of priorities.

Re: Forthcoming TV advertising

We don't watch a lot of telly so we do not get exposed to a lot of advertising but the adverts that really get my goat are the lavish aspirational perfume adverts. How can you advertise a perfume through a medium where you cannot smell it. Bonkers. The other advert that gets me very angry is oak fur...

Re: Christmas TV!

We didn't really watch any TV over Christmas. I don't watch TV very much and my wife is into a variety of box sets which she can't watch on the TV because we only have freeview and not all the channels that seem to have become normal these days. Even our freeview doesn't provide BBC channels any mor...
