Re: Holiday Hen Care. Register your interest.

I've been doing some pet sitting recently, as I'm not at work, so I can do anytime, any pets including horses in Staffordshire - Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Newcastle-under-Lyme - or further afield if needed..

Re: Aqua-fit

It sounds fun - when I've done normal aerobics, it's so embarrassing when you turn the wrong way and everyone sees you!!!! At least as you say, nobody can see you underwater

Great way to keep fit )t'

Re: Chicken run floors

You'll find a mixture of floors, but wood chip is good to scramble around in - you'll soon find that bare earth becomes a muddy mess far quicker than wood chip - although with the weather at the moment....

Hope that helps

Re: The girls have gone on holiday!

That's a really good idea - I use a petsitter myself, so they come to the house to do the cats, chickens and tortoise together

Re: Chickens and Pasta

It depends on the pasta - some come from durum wheat, and some from eggs.

However, I find when they're moulting or broody, then cooked egg is good for them - helps with protein, as it takes 95% protein to produce an egg! When trying to repair and grow feathers etc, it can be hard work for them! )lck(

The magpies don't hurt my chicks thankfully - but they did dive at my cat when he was a kitten - so now he's very scared of them I find running and shouting near them scares them off - if you do it often enough, then hopefully they'll get the message. I hope your chickens find it within themselves t...

However, I bought a new one.....and it has been outside all winter - BUT it has had very heavy compost pots on every shelf - I was very chuffed So if you keep the shelves with heavy thi...

All of my cats hunt, and are petrified of the chickens - too big, and they'll chase the cats off. However, you can't be too sure, as cats obviously have their instincts.

Could I ask a question - you said you nearly got rid of your cat before - is that because of her hunting?

As she's a pensioner, and by your own admission clawing hew way up because of her age, I would suggest that you put a stool next to it, so she can climb up to another level before the top of the sideboard. Or, as already suggested, move the sideboard and use an alternative, so she can still see out ...
