Chickens the same age

I have two chickens, both 19 weeks. I would like to get another two, but they are 15 weeks. Is it wise to have chickens all the same age, or would I be better waiting a year and getting another two? I suppose I'm considering the future and them all finished laying at the same time. What would I do w...

Re: new normal '

It will definitely, definitely happen. The muzzles (masks) will be replaced by the vaccine. No vaccine - zero integration in to society. No shops, no driving licence, no travel etc etc. They have been planning this microchip for many years and they trialled his in Dublin a couple of years back. They...

Re: new normal '

Track and Trace, Mandatory Testing, Mandatory Digital Microchip inserted (transhumanism), Digital currency, One World Government, UBI etc - appears to me to be pretty controlling. Rotschild, Rockefellers etc own all central banks, and the world is heading in to trillions of debt by the week which wi...

Re: new normal '

I agree. I work in the health area, and I worry that the media has been the real virus here. Nobody dropping dead on the streets from this, and the survival is 99.9%....so driving a car is much more risky. Personally, I have seen this coming for a long time and am familiar with Event 201 which happe...

Re: Chicken Feed

Thanks Violet. I have a big coop, to fit 8-10 hens. Feeders are all sorted and working well. I have them on grower pellets, a little seaweed, a little organic grain and they free range every day. So getting there. Hope you are enjoying your new adventure. I'm loving it. Thanks again.

Great, thank you. Will google a few pictures. Have been keeping an eye on their comb, hard to tell. Thank you.

My motto is to prepare as much as possible for the Deep Depression we are heading in to. Learn to be as self sufficient as possible and be mindful of leaving large sums of money in the banks incase they fail. I am in Ireland, so may be different from the UK, but I foresee very tough times ahead over...

When will they start laying?

I'm back with more questions. I have a Blackrock and a Maran. They are almost 19 weeks old. I have one of the Omlet Chicken Coops, so the nest box is closed off (I have the door currently shut) from their sleeping area. How will I know when they are ready to start laying? I don't want to open it as ...

Re: Courgette support in Polytunnel

Thank you both. Very new to growing veg, so I'll try pinching them out. I can't let them sprawl as I am walking on them. Have tried some support, hopefully it will work. Thanks a million.

Courgette support in Polytunnel

Hi, I have two courgette plants that have become so big that they are sprawled across my polytunnel. Because they have so many side shoots, its hard to control to wrap around bamboo etc. Has anyone any ideas or successes with how to support these as they grow? Thanks.

Re: Moveable Electric Fencing

Thank you. I managed to purchase one that is very easy to move as well as a car type battery. So all sorted with a big run for the chickens. Hopefully will keep predators at bay while they free range daily.

Re: Removing Feathers to prevent chickens taking off.

Thank you all. I will give it a few weeks and decide. I think you are right not to pull the feathers, didn't really feel that was a good idea. I will give it time and clip one wing if they get a bit flighty. Thanks all.

Re: Moveable Electric Fencing

That sounds like a bit of work. Thankfully I have some open space without it catching in trees, however I am worried about predators as we live next door to an open field with no fencing between us. Not sure how they work exactly with the electricity.

Re: Removing Feathers to prevent chickens taking off.

Trust me, I'd prefer not to touch their wings. I recall though my dads hens in trees around the garden where he had to leave them out all night as they wouldn't come down.

Moveable Electric Fencing

We are purchasing an electric fence so our chickens can free-range, hopefully without any predators attacking them. We want to move it regularly around the garden. I am trying to figure out whether a 12v battery or a HT lead out cable is better to use. We have a shed that has sockets in it, but not ...
