How upsetting to find them like that.

I got four. One of them feels very light but they all seem healthy. Will take some pics once I let them out.

Now I have chickens again I have changed my mind about a flower bed - will just stick to shrubs. I was going to move my herbs into a high planter but interesting to see what you say Hedgehugger so maybe I won't have to although chives and parsley will probably turn out to be their favourites! All happy this morning. Another egg although they are not laying in the nesting boxes yet and a soft egg - must remember to get some grit.

I picked them up this morning and they are in the run/house. I have just shut them up for the night and there is already an egg for me. What good girls. At last I have someone to give my kitchen scraps to again. I am so pleased to have hens again.

Thanks CC. The run isn't very big but if they have been in cages it will be lot bigger than they are used to. Will go and stock up on food and straw now.

I have found some a bit nearer to me. I will pick them up tomorrow morning. How long do you think I should keep them in the run before letting them out?

Is there somewhere I can find out about ex-battery hens in my area (South Devon). Have tried googling but not coming ...

I think they are buzzards but will have a better look next time I see them flying. Interesting about them being a family - we did wonder about that.
