I think its such a sensible approach you have taken this year Helen, although the plants cost more than a pkt of seeds, when you take into account that you probably dont use all the seed ( and I am not very good at rememberibg to use them the following year), I still think you will come out on top. ...

Hello again, glad your hen keeping hobby has turned into really happy pastime, they do have a way of growing on you very quickly.

Well you know once the courgettes start they will go like wild fire , good old courgettes. Whats the temperatures like with you - we are still getting it far too cold for this time of year in this bit of Scotland, I have toms and cucs in the greenhouse that are doing ok, even one or two flowers star...

Must say Duncan, your poultry man sounds a lot more helpful than some , thats a great thing he is offering to do for you, I am guessing he has a seperate shed he can quarantine them off in as he wouldn't want to risk and cross infection with his own birds, should there be anything amiss with the one...

Do you think it quite likely that as they aren't pure breed that they will demonstrate some difference in colouring i.e. lana may never get the bronze collar but retain more of the blue/grey ?

Got my plastic shed which is used for the chickens (by quite a few more laners too) from bee and q but waited until it is on offer - bank holiday coming up soon ,usually deals on then.
