Advice please on rehoming.

I wanted to ask advice please on the best way to rehome my last two battys and is this the right way to go about it? This is what I feel is the best for them. We have had two deaths these last couple of months leaving us with just two girls we rescued in Jan 2012. At this point I would have usually ...

Re: Old fashioned door sun shades

Thanks very much Mandy you are a star - will have a good look round the sites later.
The door shade I described is from years ago people used deckchair canvas to suspend
directly above/over the front door which acted as a sunscreen to stop the door paint from fading.

Re: Over the Rainbow Bridge little Elsie

Thank you all for you kindness, hope we have "cracked it" with Daisy as she tucked into corn last night and crop pretty full. Also pile of feathers in the run so think its her that's moulting which may have been the issue all along? Or can being ill may them moult? Anyway she was trimming ...

Re: Old fashioned door sun shades

Well my beach mats are certainly working so far as I half expect them to drop on my head as we walk through them. Using two has incidentally given us an exit through the middle. Whilst looking online we found a door curtain at £600 + ( order for three on its way) Australia knows what its doing in th...

She completes her antibiotics next couple of days. Will try tomatoes tomorrow wonder about cheese? than...

Re: Old fashioned door sun shades

Thanks, I am mulling it all over, the one in Argos is plastic but I have now found the canvas by the metre online. I have put up an extending net rod with the beach mats pinned over.
Not beautiful but doing the trick until I get some canvas. Thanks for you suggestion. )t'

Thanks Linda, tried her with fishy cat food and mealworms so far but only taking tiny amounts. Will try some sweet corn and egg tomorrow. She appears ok apart from the empty crop which cant be good.

Old fashioned door sun shades

Not sure which section to put this......does any one know if you can still buy the front door sun screens made of deckchair canvas? I have searched the internet and cannot find one. I want to keep the sun off my front door. I have fashioned a temporary one out of two beach mats.

Over the Rainbow Bridge little Elsie

Just returned from the vets and had Elsie PTS. The vets were amazing and we were there 3/4 hour. She drained fluid from her but felt the whole procedure was becoming futile as so much and Elsie becoming distressed. Probably a tumour she thought. We left her with the vet to be cremated as they pointe...

Re: Woohoo!

Aww that's great, I was new to all this 3 years ago and went in at the deep end as the aim was to have battys. Very, very rewarding but they do have a shorter life span with no eggs guaranteed having said that my lovely Alice has been laying one a day for the past 18 months. You won,t regret it and ...

Re: Nettle and Comfrey fertiliser

About a month sounds about right for a good stew. I then sift out the solid pieces and put them in the compost bin. I cover and use over next month or so. I use a jam jar full to a watering can. I wear wellies/ gloves as it can leave a smell on your clothes. I used at 7pm the other night and odour g...
