Re: What Frugal February's all about

Compared to family members, we spend very very little. Our weekly treat is a coffee and a teacake (latter between both of us) in a small cafe while we wait for the banks to open. We are both involved in activities which require money to be paid in, and after we have done our grocery shop in town, we...

Re: Superscrimpers - New Series

I would never put such huge potatoes into the oven to bake, mine are always cut up to cook faster. I thought the tip with hand cream was brilliant, cutting the end off, and using it as a lid. I always cut the tops off toothpaste and hand cream tubes in order to get the most out of them, but had neve...

Re: Charity Shops

Not everyone who works in a charity shop gets paid. My grandson and his partner have worked in charity shops for over a year now. Zoe only gets paid if she works on a Sunday - don't know which shop it is - and my grandson has never been paid, not even his travelling expenses - too far to cycle. I ta...

Lizzie in the wars again

Yesterday we didn't expect Lizzie to make it through the night. On Monday she was off colour, but we strongly suspect it was she who passed a lash during the morning. After that she was her old self. Tuesday the same bright little girl, but yesterday morning, she was off it again. Lottie was pecking...

Lizzie off colour

Lizzie was very off colour first thing. Not bothered about eating, and a funny round shape. Decided we would have to separate her from Lottie, who was pecking at her. Lizzie took herself off into the nest box - they seem to have stopped laying, though we had one egg on Friday, then came out, and the...

Re: Gypsy blood

OH and I have been fascinated by the gypsy way of life for a long time, but none of the ones we know are anything like the ones in the programme on Wednesday night. After ten minutes or so, we turned it off in disgust. Previous programmes - the weddings mainly, are not, so our traveller friends tell...

Re: First day without an egg

Two days without an egg, so we thought they were having a good rest, then today, an egg in the nest box. While OH cleaned the hut out for me, and I sorted the run, we free ranged them, off they went, straight to the thin patches of grass, ripping it all out, but it was lovely to see them FR again. D...
