Hi Richard

Not tried that brand i still use the farmgate layers as there cheap from a local chicken dealer at only £7.90 a bag for 20 kg .

Compared to the Dobson and horell at £12.49 a bag its a good saving and the chooks seem to prefer them >ch< >ch< >ch<

Pellets made into mash and add peas / sweetcorn Baby spinach £1 a bag Wheatgerm bread meal worms cucumber / cabbage / brocolli stalks chopped and lightly steamed . Worms / maggots and wood lice . Mine have had all these and more this year but i always make sure from the advice on here they eat plent...

Mine seem to lay better on the cheaper farm gate layers pellets that have the grit added . I used to feed all sorts of healthy stuff (snacks) with the layers but these days i find just making the layers into mash and adding mashed bannana / peas / sweetcorn / spinach etc gets them to eat much more l...

Maggie the magpie has been broody for over three weeks . I just put her out for food and water when i get home and shut the pop hole so she cannot sit back in the nest box ...its a real pain . The next day and all night she is back in the nest box but i have 2 so the others are ok . She is very vico...

Hi gang .....all the hens were sorted out with new homes or foster homes ....from what i read via email .. They were obviously far to busy rescuing these ladies with a massive influx of help offered and didn,t need my help so could not reply ......the rescue came first obviously . Any way the peeps ...

Blimey .....just seen the update ...

I,m full up with hens but could offer transport to stockport and a "temp" home for around 15 if needed in my spare shed ...

Been useing the farmgate ones since late last year they love them and have added grit only £7.90 a bag from a chicken dealer near me who also keeps barn hens for egg sales ( very good set up for barn hens with perches etc not the norm cruel set up ) .. Tried the dobson and horrell much dearer stuff ...

My original 4 from September last year only one ever laid (still is ) . One died within a week , the other died early this year . The two that are left one is great (the layer) the other has never laid and acts old , as in slow and a poor apetite but loveing her freedom The 2 i got in Feb this year ...
