Re: Will you be hugging?

They say that those in hospital with it have not been vaccinated (and I think most were eligible), so let's hope that shows that the vaccine protects against it.
But while not everyone is vaccinated it will spread.

Re: Will you be hugging?

At last we are getting advice that sensible people can follow. Up to now it has been a mix of 'you mustn't' and 'it is illegal to' which has confused people and because they see the illegalities some have not kept them. As I live alone I have been in a bubble with my daughter since it was allowed, b...

Re: How many of you have had your second jab?

I believe that the part that has mutated is not the part the vaccine acts against, so they are hopeful.

Re: How does your garden grow?

My flooded potato trench had dried out but this morning both it and the bean patch were flooded again. The spuds in the first two trenches are shooting up, I raked a bit of soil round the stems to start the earthing up. The ones in the last trench are showing, even one in the wettest end - hope it s...

Re: My attempt to keep chickens.

I was wondering if the repair cafe would take some of the bits & pieces in my garage - Jim did a lot of repairs and there's all sorts there. Imperial spanners, a drum of electrical cable, a lifetime's collection of tools + his father's collection. My daughter's & partners do less DIY and have alread...

I suspect 'chicken training' is a bit like 'cat training'. Something they do to you, not vv :-D

Re: Chicken Training for new coop

I think you have the right idea, let them explore it and chose whether to sleep in it. Why do you want them to stop using the old one? Have you other plans for it. I suppose, after they have got used to the new one being there, you could shut the old one in the day and only open it late evening afte...

Re: How does your garden grow?

The pear blossom was good, now the apples are at their best, even the Worcester is out. It is one of the earliest to fruit but latest to flower, one year I wondered if it was dead it was so far behind all the others.

Re: How does your garden grow?

A month since I posted here. I finished planting the spuds, then a few days ago one of the trenches was full of water - thought we'd dried out but that didn't last. Now weeding the bean patch. Some seeds in pots in the airing cupboard, and I popped a few in the ground yesterday - on my half and half...

Re: How does your garden grow?

Still gives me a thrill when things pop through. Me too, Mo. Even bigger thrill from cuttings, in fact I am now going round looking for things I can take cuttings from. Jim was a great one for propagating from cuttings and layers. The garden is full of lots of the same things. Plus a lot that have ...
