Re: The Dinosaurs in my Back Garden

I've decided to extend the girls' run. I want to add another 3.5 x 5 feet onto the end. Unfortunately the person (a relative) who built the original run isn't available. I'm not up to the challenge, I wish I was, and neither is my creative but not practical hubby. Was thinking of trying Rated People...

Re: The Dinosaurs in my Back Garden

Sounds like a very good cleaning regime you have there SD. My set up is a coop with attached run underneath and this is placed inside their main (homemade) run. The nest box does have a perch in and I fill it up with straw. Each morning I take out any soiled straw and if necessary add fresh straw (...

Re: The Dinosaurs in my Back Garden

Here's a question for you all. Hope I don't sound too ignorant asking it. There was a question on a Facebook chicken group I'm in recently asking about how we clean out our chickens. Just about everyone did it differently and of course there are various permutations of bedding used. Below I have det...

Re: Sandy's Pink Ladies

What a sad time for you Sandy and awful treatment at the vets. I admire your restraint, I would have lost it then regretted it later. Hope things settle down and you can enjoy the girls.

Re: Ambers diary.

Hi Amber, I hope your greenhouse does withstand the winter. It's great having one. I had a flimsy aluminium and poly-carbonate one and it lasted a few years but was a bit of a sorry state eventually. As luck would have it one winter a night of gale force winds flattened it. I claimed my house insura...

Re: The Dinosaurs in my Back Garden

This time exactly a year ago I took delivery of my three girls - Hamble, Florence and Matilda. I have never kept chickens before. It has been the most inspiring time. They are friends with benefits. I can't imagine life without chickens now. I'm still learning but loving every minute. And it is grea...

Re: Ambers diary.

Hi Amber, I'm glad you brought this up. It makes me realise that I'm not the only one that does that kind of thing This morning it was rainy so as soon as I let the girls out for a leg stretch before I go to work they headed into the kitchen. After picking the remains of the cat food I popped down a...

Re: The Dinosaurs in my Back Garden

Well yesterday was a red letter day. Hamble has started laying again after around 13 weeks off. Three eggs in the nest box. Back to full production. Now where are all those egg recipes?...
