Re: We have said goodbye to Megan

Sending you big hugs. I would have done the same as you. In june when we had to have the cat put to sleep he was sat upright purring and to look at him he looked fine but inside he was suffering. Now I can look back at the memories of my cat and dog (he was put to sleep 6 weeks later) and the tears ...

Re: Adviced needed on Mycoplasma

Thank you Manda Going to remove the top layer of soil out of the run then dig it over. Was also thinking of maybe putting down a thick layer of wood shavings. Will the coop be ok to use after 2 weeks? Also plan on giving everything another good soak with jeyes fluid. Around the side of the run there...

Adviced needed on Mycoplasma

Good morning I just needed some advice re mycoplasma. One of my chickens got it last year and was put on all sorts of antibiotics, it would go away for a few weeks then come back again until she died a few weeks ago. She was in a coop with one other chicken that died in may, my other 7 chickens has ...

Re: New Chicken Keeper with lots of worries!

Hi Kath, sorry to butt in I've been using the grape method for 2 years with no problems. The dosage is obviously a bit hit and miss but it doesn't seem to do the girls any harm and it gets rid of the worms efficiently. The only thing I would say is grapes vary in size, so if I use a big one I cut i...

Re: Sleeping anywhere but on perches!!

In one of my coops I have 5 chickens, there are 3 perches and 3 nest boxes. All five pile on top of one another and sleep in the one nest box. I would hate to be the chicken at the bottom {rofwl}

Re: Off to rainbow bridge Stew

Thank you for all your lovely kind words xxx My dog was 17 1/2 so we took every day as a bonus with him and knew he wasn't going to be with us much longer. The cat was diabetic so his condition could change at any time as he was on a high dose for a cat and has always been on a high dose. We still h...

Re: wanted ASAP

If you are unable to find a second hand one have you thought about converting a plastic shed or a garden storage unit that you put wheelie bins in? I own a cube and a converted plastic shed and it's so easy to clean etc. In the winter you can still hose it down a quick wipe over with an old towel an...

Re: Plastic Coops

I currently have a cube as my spare coop and I've had two chickens in mine for months. They are fine and seem very happy to be in there. They have been in there during the really cold weather as well with no problems xx

Re: Rest in Peace Hamish

Thank you all for your kind words. It was horrible coming downstairs this morning and no Hamish.

My children are doing better than I expected, to lose one family pet is bad enough but two so close together is just awful. In fact we lost a chicken in may, a cat in june and a dog in july!
