We have 2 pet bunnies and we've done exactly what you're suggesting with chicken wire around our trees and it seems to work.

I went to Al-di for some odds n'ends the other day and spent £9 when I got home I priced them online at tes-co and it would've cost £17! I'm impressed! What a lovely dilemma to have after the washout of last year June. I'm very jealous as our bunnies have scoffed all our strawberries (& plants! )
