Herb Garden

Post by Bristolianbelle »

After 3 days of hard work, we have finished our herb garden with a culinary herb spiral in the centre. Fingers crossed it's chicken proof. >eas2< ImageImageImageImage

The only plant the chickens managed to nibble before I put up the netting over the trellis was the pennyroyal. In the crescent shaped border is a mixture of wild flowers and herbs.
The 4 willow planters are going to have veg planted in them. The only outstanding thing to do is to sort out the electricity supply to the water feature. I realy enjoyed designing and building this. And the herb spiral didn't take as long to build as I thought it would. There is a layer of chicken compost at the base. (might as well use what the girls provide). I then filled the spiral with barley straw. In that way I didn't have to use much compost when planting up. Finished off with a top dressing of ornamental bark. The only problem is that I keep seeing lost of lovley plants to buy to add to the herb patch. )grin2(

What a good idea to make a herb spiral. It takes up little room and when everything is fully established will look really great. Well done )t'

I really like that - must look out for some of that trellis - great idea to use it like that - and the brick spiral is really clever too - got loads of odd bricks in the garden might try that myself.
