We pulled our first home grown lemon grass tonight to use in a stir fry.
After trying to grow it from seed for the last two years and failing abysmally my partner brought four pieces in a packet from a "well known" superstore for 1 GBP on her last visit to England. We placed them in water until they started shooting then popped all four into pots containing collected mole hill soil. Keeping them indoors until the warm temperature arrived we now have four healthy plants that we can pull from and use in cooking. They taste lovely.
As an added bonus the plants also act as a deterrent to the mozzies that appear around dusk so we have placed them around where we sit at night. Next step is to try and split some off to increase the number of plants.
