Yours look pretty big, I'd pick one & see. How long ago did the fluffy bits shrivel up? It would be a shame if they get over ripe, will be tough. Mine arent ready yet but we planted them a bit late.

Re: when will my corn be ready?July seems unusually early but the cobs look a decent size so perhaps an early variety? I'm a bit concerned the tassels are missing ... you might have something that has burrowed inside ... so perhaps open up one of the cobs even if it is just to have a look see whether anything is in there. If you use your thumb nail to pierce into a kernel, it should release a milky white solution. When eaten raw, the kernels should taste sweet
Re: when will my corn be ready?
yes, that would be my guess, though I've only grown them once or twice, a while ago. They look good & big so i'd be tempted to try one too Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html

Re: when will my corn be ready?
Oh lucky you - sweet corn, yum yum (I didn't grow any this year of course .... definitely have to plan it for next year!) Yes, I'm afraid that's it now - once the cobs are picked the plants just die off but the roots and stalk tend to be a bit woody so little point leaving them in the ground. You can compost them but will take a little longer than usual but will eventually break down |
