perpetual spinach
perpetual spinachBit of a query. I have a load of perpetual spinach growing and wondering if I can use it same way as ordinary spinach. Did'n realize how well it grows and Don't want to waste it.
Re: perpetual spinachCan't swear to it, Mrs B, but I think so.
Re: perpetual spinachYes, I am sure you can.
We have have a good crop this year. At the weekend, I made Sag Paneer (Spinach and Indian cheese) with it. It doesn't have the strong taste you would say with tinned spinach, which I am sure they use in Indian takeaways, but is pleasant enough. Michael
Re: perpetual spinachUsed it in a fish pie last night and it was fine. Going to try it in feta and spinach pie next week.
Re: perpetual spinachIs this the same thing as Swiss Chard?

--Immanuel Kant Re: perpetual spinachYes it is Kitla...Chard is similar to spinach when it comes to taste and preparing it....you might want to take the big main stems out if you're wanting to use it like Spinach (they need a little more cooking than the leaf).
It's called Silverbeet in NZ. ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)✰

I love the stems chopped up & lightly fried in butter with salt & pepper. "He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."
