Dennis to be discussed at committee level!
Dennis to be discussed at committee level! Our allotment committee have become divided over the fate of our feral cat, Dennis. He has a box in my pal's greenhouse where he eats and sleeps; sadly my pal passed on at the weekend and left instructions that Dennis should have the use of the greenhouse for the rest of his life.
We have to re-let the plot, and the next on the list are cat friendly and the people who buy food and feed him will carry on. But there's one or two who don't agree So it means an extraordinary meeting this Sunday! I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.

Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level! What a load of rhubarb!!!!
The gent died at the weekend, and cared deeply about this little fella. Shame on those who have complained about Dennis. I hope you and others stand firm and make it clear that this little lad will be helping to keep vermin away from the allotments and they should be grateful to him. If the folk taking over are cat friendly, what is the problem? Good luck, Mallard - give 'em what for! http://www.freshstartforhens.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level!Totally agree with Bluebell - utter ridiculousness
Good luck Dennis - we're all behind you Lucy x

Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level! As Bluebell says push the cheap anti rodent angle.
If he is feral I doubt any rescue centre will take him or if they do If, as no one is likely to take him, ask if the disenters will be stumping up the vet's fees to have him put down. That might take the wind out of their sails Dom Ali Woks My World
Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level!Dennis may possibly be the best cat name I've ever heard. Tell those anti-Dennisers you'll have all the people like me on their back if they don't tolerate him like good boys
We'll interfere and make them look mean @Sheldonatsov
My horrible dog's a Twit(ter) Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level! For goodness sake, please tell them you already have a petition
Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level!Tell those desenters that they are a bunch of pussies and to mog off.
Removing Dennis from the allotments would be a catastrophe as the mice would dig up and eat everyones' seeds. Dom Ali Woks My World
Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level!Yes, but.... are the objecters anti-Dennis, or anti setting conditions for the committee & future tenants. That would create a precedent.
Maybe the committee could agree to pass on those 'wishes' (rather than 'instructions') to the next owner. And as a committee decide whether you will make other provision for Dennis if that falls through. Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html

Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level! Thanks for your comments, but I don't think there's any danger of a visit to the vets!
He's a nervous cat and several people have volunteered to house him on site, but it would be better if he could stay where he is, and has been for years. It's an odd thing but the dissenters are the ones who object to their plots being inspected, usually for obvious reasons. I've been there nearly six years and refer to them as the dinosaurs! I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.
- Pablo Picasso Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level!Firstly, Mallard I am sorry you have lost your pal. May he RIP.
How could they be so mean? You could tell them that Dennis is good for elf and safety in as much as he is getting the rodents before they have chance to bite/infect the allotment holders. I seem to remember you were invited onto the committee some time ago, so give them what for, Mallard. I could ring up the local rag and give them the story if you like, just say the word. LOL
Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level!Yes, I'm committee secretary, so I'll definitely get my say, and hopefully my way!
I don't think it will get into the local rag (they get things wrong anyway) but I don't think my pal would have approved. Denis knows something is afoot! We need a cat emoticon! I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.
- Pablo Picasso Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level!Lunacy The world's gone mad - I hope that Dennis can continue his way of life without any disruption. Well done for sticking up for him and good luck with the meeting
I'm intrigued about the 'obvious reasons' - can you divulge?
Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level!
Lack of cultivation, heaps of junk etc. One or two of them got together and managed to stop the two yearly inspections because it "upsets" people. Now it has to be on complaint, which looks like we're picking on people. Trouble is it's me who has to write the letters! Nearly had a rant there! I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.

Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level!Keeping my fingers crossed that sense prevails and Dennis gets to keep his home.
Re: Dennis to be discussed at committee level! He looks such a lovely boy, who doesn't ask for much in his life. Just a bit of kindness which he has been shown by your deceased friend and other allotment keepers.
I cannot understand some people who can have no compassion for animals, especially one who has probably been dumped in the first place. I hope he gets to stay where he is as being a nervous cat, he probably feels secure there. I am now a widow and live with my memories.
