Back from the rescue
Hi Rose & Liv - good luck with your girls when you get them and welcome to the forum.
It is always amazing to read the accounts from rescues and seeing the girls go from strength to strength in their new homes. Well done all. Helen xx
3 children, 3 grandchildren, 3 chooks, 3 fish, a shrimp that thinks its a prawn and a dappy dog. http://www.acountrygrandma.blogspot.com New girlsHi Rose and Liv
I am going to Midsomer Norton tomorrow too to pick my 3 girls up..have to be there at 3-3.30. May see you there ... then again i dont know what you look like so could be difficult !! Hi Dee and Stace,
Thanks for that.... we will probably get to the farm around 3 to look in the shop etc. will keep an ear out for your name - (we are mum & daughter both with glasses!) and maybe we should swap hen pics when we get them back? Although I think we have prepared everything as well as we can, I am still worrying that the hens will feel a bit chilly when they get home. have put a thick layer of wood shavings and straw down for them but hope this is going to be ok. Anyway, good luck for saturday and maybe see you there Rose TomorrowI will look out for you Rose, i will be with hubby .
Ive got long red hair with blonde streaks if thats helps !!! Just got back from shopping with a huge pack of easi bed ,its still in the car , will wait for one of the men to get home to get it out for me.. I think i have everything now , looks more like i have a flock of a few hundred arriving rather than 3 ! ! Hi Dee
How did you get on today? We got there about 3.30 and home by 5 ish. Hens now settled in their new home and we cant believe it has finally happened! We were quite surprised at how much better all the hens looked with much more feathers than we had expected, so I dont feel quite so worried about them feeling the cold - only one has a very scrawny little neck . Three of them took a few tentative steps out into their run but only about five minutes as it was getting dark. Big discussion on names and now finally decided on Maureen, Mandy, Brenda and Babs - hope they dont mind.... let us know how you get on Rose & Olivia How lovely for them and you.
Well done on the names. I have a Maureen and Mandy and also have had a very much loved Brenda. Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning We have eggs!we got up this morning at half 8 and went down to let the girls out...
we didnt think we would get any eggs on the first day.. but we got 2!! how exciting...... Maureen is enormous, we are even wondering if she may be a bloke.......... her comb is huge all but one of the girls have been out in their run - babs is still a bit nervous of it but may come out later if she's feeling brave . Brenda loves her nestbox and doesnt want to leave it and poor old Mandy's neck is so bare we want to make her a scalf for it How is everyone elses chickens getting on? (i will post some photos in a minute)
