Wanted single ex battery hen please!

Hiya,

I dont know if anyone can help, but I am on the lookout for a single ex battery hen. Friend of mine has only got one and would like another to keep her company!
Missed the last rescue by only 2 days!

Needs to be local to me if at all possible.

Hi does it have to be an ex bat? Just thought that if she can,t find one maybe she should treat herself to a couple or three posh ones?

I think my friend has a real soft spot for the battered girlies and I think it would be far fairer on her lonely girl to have a sister who is similar in age.

They will be applying on hen rehomers next rescue for two girls, hopefully I will have found a lil sister before then.

Which is probably why they're looking for just one for now, so that they can settle together before introducing the two from the rescue. Rather than putting two in with the lone hen.

Exactly right, she contacted me about taking on a few more hens and I suggested only one for now then add the two later to make it a more even battlefield. She wants to increase her flock to about 8 hens! So I said do it slowly with even numbers on both sides.

I have enquired at a free range farm near me where I have got "spent" hens before but they are not ready until next April.

I need to find a hen really soon so this lonely girl isnt on her own for too long. I even contemplated giving her one of my batty girls but I really couldnt part with any of them and for that I feel a bit selfish yet so sad for this lonely girl too! Oh what a dilemma!

Hi Taz, I am supposed to be going to Reditch at the weekend, Its still around 150 miles away from you but I would be happy to let your freind have one of mine if you struggle to find anything closer.

Thanks Al thats really very kind of you, I will certainly keep that in mind, I am a bit pushed for time at the weekend with family commitments etc but if it comes to it, then that deffo would get us out of a pickle. I do have a couple of other avenues to try so it is early days still.
I put this post to widen the horizon so to speak.

What a shame you are not nearer to me - had a couple of spares from last rescue, which are now free ranging happily with my hens, but I would have let your friend have one definitely.
