Horse Programme - Martin Clunes

Post by bluebell »

Missed first ten minutes of this programme, it was amazing. I've seen Monty Roberts a few times, saw Jean-Francois perform a year ago (that guy is amazing, he had 8 horses he was riding bare-back and had them jumping posts in two lots of four, how he got them to change from one group into two was amazing.

I had a lump in my throat watching this programme, would rate it 10 out of 10 (well if you love horses that is). :-D

Yes, I thought it was wonderful too - really looking forward to the next installment. :-D
For such a successful man, Clunes is so self-deprecating, always willing to learn. Wish there were more like him.
Wouldn't mind his job, though!

Bluebell you are so right , just beaten me to the thread . Monty is looking his age now but to my mind what a guy. Never seen th french man before but he seemed to have exactly the right feeling for his equines too. Couldnt stand Martin Clunes when he was younger but give him a total thumbs up now , he did a similar prog about dogs and seems to be another chap who has genuine empathy with the animals he comes in contact with. What a pity the series only extends to 2 progs.
It will be alright in the end , if its not alright, it isn't the end .

I missed the program but i have set a reminder for this weeks. (reserved use of english tv!! haha)
Slightly off topic.............
I was so lucky to have met Lorenzo several times over the years at windsor and olympia when he was doing demos and i was grooming, A lovely genuine man, unlike a lot of 'famous' faces, he was genuinly interested in getting his horses ready and making sure they were ok, Spent a lot of time with them before going into the ring. Very approachable and friendly....... As for monty roberts i met him once and again a lovely lovely man. I once worked for a man that trained with him and used his methods to break horses to ride, Made the whole thing such a pleasure........ And a very heart warming way to do it, that moment when a horse joins up to you for the first time is like no other. :-D

Sorry for my ramblings. :?

Sara - I'm going slightly off topic as well, I think Lorenzo is fab, I am sure his first little mare he had was one he rescued from the slaughterhouse, when he was a youngster. The rapport he has with his horses is amazing.

I really love Martin Clunes and although I am really not a horsey person, I watched some of this and enjoyed what I saw.

Some years ago, I saw him in a programme with elephants and he was simply enchanting.

Watched this last night, second episode.

He spent time with mongolian herdsmen, american cowboys and native north americans, british cavalry and police.

Loved his little foal, Alice, at the end )t'

another entertaining programme , he really seems to love horses and isnt afraid to try out a new one. Thought he was going to have an involuntary dismount off his steed while dressed in armour as they did a rather sudden stop!

It was good to see him being safety conscious and sticking his riding hat on )t'

The wounded knee memorial ride was thought provoking, funny seeing a white man attend when it was the white man who nearly wiped out the sioux and other nations.
