Update on my Energy Supplier change
Update on my Energy Supplier changeYou may recall I changed my Energy Supplier about a year ago, from one well known Company (EeeeDeeeFfff) to Scottish Power.
The old Company was charging me £130 odd a month and were putting it up to c£142 pm. 10 months in and I'm now down to £70pm with Scottish Power !! The annoying thing is that had I not done something, I'd be waving goodbye to £72 every month. Just shows you how a look round can be every year !! Martin Lewis showed a couple of good examples of this on his programme this week. Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
Re: Update on my Energy Supplier changeWOW!! Thats fantastic, Richard, well done you.
Our contract with NnnnnP is coming to an end at the end of this month, so hopefully we will find something much cheaper than at present. One huge reason for us changing is because they were sooooo very unhelpful when we asked about a new supply to the Canine Hydro Centre we have built, almost to the point of being rude. It was very much a case of well if you don't like it, which infuriated me tbh.
Re: Update on my Energy Supplier changeFunny thing is that Scottish Power have shocking reviews.
There again, you can often say that people only say something if it's bad ? Looking at that programme, it seems that Customer Service is a big key in satisfaction, not so much the cost. I went through uSwitch. Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
Re: Update on my Energy Supplier changeI always compare the prices now. Recently my son's car insurance renewal was about £900 (he's only been driving a year) so I did a comparison & found the same deal for £500! guess what? with the same company!

Re: Update on my Energy Supplier changeWell done on your saving Richard! I spoke to my Auntie the other day & she said she'd had a letter from her supplier (don't know who) to say that she was in credit but that they want to put up her monthly DD! I personally don't do a monthly DD amount because of these sort of stories you hear about, I just put a certain amount into another account each month & then when the bill comes the supplier takes the exact amount out by DD. It's whatever works for the individual I suppose.
Re: Update on my Energy Supplier changeI had quite a battle with my supplier to cut my DD when I was in credit - I'd compared at the end of fixed term and found they were cheapest still, but I told them that unless they paid back my overpayment and cut the DD I was leaving.
I believe some of them don't repay when you switch unless you chase them. Disgusting. Dance caller. http://mo-dance-caller.blogspot.co.uk/p/what-i-do.html
Sunny Clucker enjoyed Folk music and song in mid-Cheshire Re: Update on my Energy Supplier changeI was with BG for a long time, until they started adding on a standing charge, then I left. I pay quarterly on a bill now, into the bank. I won't have a standing charge and pay in advance. I am not on a fixed tariff, my provider doesn't have any, so I know that I don't have to go searching for a better deal elsewhere. Everyone is on the same tariff, no penalties for quarterly payments, and no standing charge. I send in my meter readings to my page on their site. I'll stick with it for a while.
